Hello hello

Welcome to Curated and Kind a blog where we discuss how to plan your wedding warm, curated, and designed to allow you to be completely present.

How Did We Get Here?

Becoming a wedding planning company doesn’t happen overnight. It came from years of late nights, early mornings, convention centers in Phoenix, business degrees in college right here at CU Denver and private events in New Orleans, hometown cookouts with 400 family members because a crawfish boil brings everyone home. It started with rooms of 900 people and only one HK team member. We learned how to build the right teams, find the right vendors, and create experiences that actually feel seamless.

A banquet for 1,200? That’s just a Tuesday.

Coordination, private event, and catering management taught us here at HK the operational side of events first. The real boots-on-the-ground work. How to physically pull off a plan. How to stay calm under pressure. How to move an entire room without guests ever realizing how much is happening. Freakin magic!!

When the mountains called, Kerr Murray moved to Denver. “Before launching HK, I wanted to truly understand this city and the people in it. I worked private events in Congress Park and late nights at the Denver Art Museum, cooked in people’s homes, and spent years getting the lay of the land while learning from some of the most dedicated event professionals I’ve ever met. I fell in love with events all over again.”

The vendors here are so kind, and HK’s team have been incredibly lucky to have found this community. We’re not the kind of company that simply shows up on a wedding day and “makes it work.” We care deeply about your experience from the very beginning — at minimum, three months out, but usually much longer. As HK grew, we started building systems that actually supported our couples the way we wanted. Getting the software, planning tools, and design systems in place helped us align the logistics behind the scenes so we could focus more intentionally on the people in front of us.

You.

Now, we’re stepping fully into our full-service planning era with trained teams, refined systems, and a planning experience built around warmth, presence, and curated design. The creative side of this industry? That’s what keeps us addicted! Putting so much love into one weekend!

We draw inspiration from architecture, film, fashion, moody color palettes, old Hollywood romance, artistic textures, and those cinematic moments that somehow feel effortless — even though we know the truth. Beautiful events take an incredible amount of work and nobody wants to work their wedding.

That’s our job.

Whether you hand us a fully designed vision board or simply tell us your favorite color and the feeling you want guests to leave with, we want to help create something that feels deeply personal to you. Type A? Type B? Somewhere in between? We’re here for all of it.

This blog will be a place where we talk openly and honestly about weddings grounded in warmth and presence with your guests:

  • How to choose vendors

  • Where to prioritize your budget

  • Why certain timelines work for some couples but not others

  • How to ignore outside pressure and focus on what matters to you

  • What planning actually looks like behind the scenes

  • How HK approaches weddings differently

Because every planner has intention behind the way they run their business.

This is ours.

We’re proudly Colorado-based, deeply community-oriented, and passionate about highlighting local vendors whenever possible. From Denver to mountain towns and everywhere throughout the Front Range, this region is filled with unbelievably talented creatives, diverse stories, and landscapes that shape the way celebrations feel here. We want our platform to celebrate the people, artistry, culture, and communities that make this place home.

HK started with two friends, one vision, and a shared passion.

Somewhere along the way, it became contagious.

What started as planning evolved into something bigger, something felt. A warmth we now carry into every wedding we touch.

From the beginning, this work has never been just about timelines or logistics. It’s about trust.

It’s about stepping into one of the most meaningful seasons of someone’s life and holding it with kindness.

We’ve cried with our couples during emotional moments, stood quietly in the background while vows were exchanged, and solved problems before anyone else even noticed they existed.

Because what matters most to us isn’t just how a wedding looks. It’s how it feels.

Warm, curated, and designed to allow you to be completely present.

None of this exists alone. Every celebration we create is supported by trusted local vendors, artists, collaborators, and teams who care just as deeply about the guest experience as we do. Over time, that’s become our people. A collective built on respect, creativity, trust, and genuine care for others. HK is not just one planner or one team.

It’s every person who shows up to make these moments possible.

It’s every person who inspired us along the way.

The quiet warmth
The curated details.
The steady presence throughout it all.

And we can’t wait to share it with you.

Join us next month for the first official entry of Curated and Kind, where we’ll answer the question:

“Where do I even start?”
